Donald Trump 'Lingerie' Trademarked in Financial Disclosures

Financial disclosure documents have revealed that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has trademarked his name for a range of products, including lingerie, in China. These documents, released by the Federal Election Commission, provide the first public glimpse into Trump's earnings and business dealings this year. Spanning over 250 pages, the disclosure details Trump's income, investments, debts, and business interests, including the various trademarks he holds.

One of Trump's companies, DTTM Operations, has registered the "TRUMP" trademark in China for a variety of clothing items, such as lingerie, shower caps, and white sackcloth robes intended for priests and pastors. Additionally, Trump holds trademarks in China for services and products ranging from health spa services and children's clothing to computerized file management and the rental of drinking water dispensers.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, has also filed five Chinese trademarks under her name for products and services, including restaurants and construction projects.

In January, Trump acknowledged that at least four of his businesses earned $5.5 million from China during his first two years as president. A Democratic report accused Trump of violating the U.S. Constitution's foreign emoluments clause, which prohibits federal officials from accepting money or gifts from foreign governments without congressional approval. In response, Trump defended himself during a Fox News town hall, explaining that the income from China was related to services provided at his hotels and clubs, emphasizing that these payments were for legitimate business services rather than unsolicited gifts.

During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump frequently criticized China for its trade practices and accused the country of devaluing its currency and stealing American jobs. He expressed frustration over having to purchase Chinese goods, citing a sense of obligation due to China's economic strategies.

Beyond trademarks, the financial disclosure documents revealed some unconventional sources of income for Trump. He earned over $300,000 for endorsing "The Greenwood Bible" and the "Letters to Trump Book," which features notes from celebrities addressed to the former president and generated $4.47 million in royalties.

The documents also disclosed that Trump owes over $100 million in lawsuits. Additionally, they highlighted the income generated by Trump's wife, Melania Trump, from speaking engagements, licensing agreements for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and rental income from real estate properties.

The financial disclosure documents offer a comprehensive overview of Trump's financial activities, shedding light on the various ways he continues to generate income, even as he campaigns for the presidency once again.
