Matt Gaetz is set to host his own primetime show on the One America News Network (OAN) starting in January.
The *Matt Gaetz Show*, a one-hour political talk show, will air every weeknight at 9 p.m. ET, as announced by the right-wing news outlet on Tuesday.
"OAN is leading the way in media, embracing not just traditional news but also the platforms where Americans are going—streaming, apps, podcasts, and social media," Gaetz said in a statement, as reported by OAN. "I couldn’t be more excited to join OAN’s innovative team and be part of this groundbreaking expansion."
OAN added, "With Gaetz joining OAN’s prime-time lineup, the network is poised for a groundbreaking 2025, reaffirming its mission to provide credible, independent, and unfiltered commentary to audiences across the nation."
In addition to his show, Gaetz will co-host a weekly podcast with Dan Ball, host of *Real America With Dan Ball*. The network stated that the podcast will offer "fresh perspectives and unfiltered conversations tailored for Millennials, late Gen Z, and early Gen Xers."
"We've been big fans of Matt Gaetz from day one. We admire his leadership and authenticity, and we’re confident he’ll truly connect with our viewers. This exciting partnership will take OAN to the next level," Ball said, according to OAN.
This announcement comes weeks after Gaetz resigned from Congress and later withdrew his nomination to serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s next attorney general. Gaetz cited the "unfair distraction" caused by calls for the House Ethics Committee to release its report on its investigation into him. He has denied all allegations, including claims of illicit drug use and inappropriate conduct with a 17-year-old while in office.
On December 5, the House voted 206-198 against a resolution that would have required the House Ethics Committee to release its report on Gaetz. While ethics reports have occasionally been released after a member of Congress resigns, this is a rare occurrence.
Gaetz's future had been uncertain since withdrawing his nomination to lead the Department of Justice. In a November 22 appearance on Charlie Kirk's podcast, he stated that he had no plans to return to Congress next year. Gaetz's name has been mentioned as a potential candidate for Florida governor when Ron DeSantis’ term ends in 2026, or as a possible replacement for Florida Senator Marco Rubio if Rubio is confirmed as Trump’s next secretary of state.
OAN is a staunchly pro-Trump network that has been a frequent broadcaster of false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 election. Dominion Voting Systems has filed a lawsuit against OAN, its owner Robert Herring Sr., his son Charles Herring, and journalists Chanel Rion and Christina Bobb for promoting the conspiracy theory that Dominion’s machines were used to rig the election in favor of Joe Biden. All defendants have denied any wrongdoing.
OAN currently lacks a deal with a major television platform. In 2022, both DirecTV and Verizon declined to renew their contracts to broadcast the network. OAN does not subscribe to Nielsen Media Research, the standard for measuring television audiences. However, CNN reported that in 2019, OAN averaged around 14,000 viewers from April to June of that year.
