JD Vance to Attend Event Hosted by Pastor Who Accused Harris of Witchcraft

Senator JD Vance will be participating in a town hall event moderated by televangelist Lance Wallnau, who has previously made controversial remarks about Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Wallnau, an ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump, has repeatedly targeted Harris, likening her to the biblical figure "Jezebel" and accusing her of engaging in witchcraft during her 2020 vice-presidential debate.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at the Monroeville Convention and Events Center in Pennsylvania, is part of Wallnau's "Courage Tour." This tour, which focuses on mobilizing evangelical voters in key battleground states, is designed to generate support for Trump and his political allies, including JD Vance.

Wallnau gained attention following the 2020 debate between Harris and then-Vice President Mike Pence, when he took to social media to allege that Harris was using occult powers. On his platform on X (formerly Twitter), he claimed Harris employed "occult-empowered deception, manipulation, and domination" during the debate, which he equated to witchcraft. He also suggested that Harris's ability to make statements unchallenged while Pence faced scrutiny was evidence of supernatural influence.

Beyond these claims, Wallnau has also referred to Harris as "George Soros with a skirt" and a "puppet of Obama," reiterating his belief that she embodies dangerous influences. His rhetoric ties into his broader alignment with Trump, whom Wallnau famously compared to the biblical figure Cyrus, a king chosen by God to lead Israel. Wallnau interprets Trump’s presidency through a religious lens, even citing Trump’s position as the 45th president in relation to Isaiah 45, where Cyrus is mentioned.

The town hall in Monroeville will begin at 1 p.m., with doors opening at 9 a.m. Tickets for the event are available for free via Wallnau's Courage Tour website or through Eventbrite. According to Pew Research data from April 2024, Trump retains strong support from white Protestant Evangelicals, with 81 percent backing him, alongside significant support from white Catholics and non-Evangelical Protestants. However, he continues to face opposition from 77 percent of Black Protestant voters.

JD Vance and the Trump campaign have been contacted for comment regarding the upcoming event, though no response has been provided as of now.
