Footage of Donald Trump engaging with British royal Prince William has gone viral following their meeting at the reopening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Saturday, December 7.
A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user BehizyTweets, showing the president-elect shaking hands and chatting with the prince, has garnered nearly 2 million views and 46,000 likes. The clip captures William smiling warmly as Trump pats him on the shoulder. "Prince William turned into a fanboy as soon as he saw President Trump," the caption reads. "The world knows the boss man is back."
The event marked the reopening of the iconic cathedral, which had been severely damaged in a 2019 fire. The blaze, which destroyed much of its wooden interior and spire, required the efforts of 400 firefighters to extinguish. The reopening ceremony, attended by over 1,500 guests, was led by the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich. Trump sat alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.
Following the ceremony, Trump and William had a private meeting at the British Embassy in Paris. They posed for photos and shared a 40-minute conversation focused on U.S.-U.K. relations and global issues. Trump praised William as a "good man" and described him as doing a "fantastic job." Kensington Palace called the meeting "warm and friendly," noting Trump shared fond memories of Queen Elizabeth II, William’s late grandmother.
Sky News reported that Trump expressed admiration for Queen Elizabeth and offered well-wishes to King Charles III, who succeeded her following her death in September 2022. Trump also reflected on his past interactions with the British royal family, including his state visit to the U.K. in 2019.
Speaking on Art of The Surge, a docuseries by Tucker Carlson, Trump said of King Charles, “Hopefully he’s going to be well because he’s a really good person. [Queen] Camilla is fantastic. You get to know them so well.”
