Kamala Harris Mocks Donald Trump's Interview Disaster on Truth Social

Kamala Harris' campaign team has taken a jab at the technical difficulties that plagued the start of Donald Trump’s interview with Elon Musk by resharing a previous post from the former president. The interview, which aired on X (formerly Twitter), faced significant delays, beginning approximately 40 minutes late and preventing many social media users from accessing the conversation.

Elon Musk, who owns X, attributed the problems to a "massive DDOS [distributed denial of services] attack," though the precise cause of the issues remains unclear. The situation was reminiscent of the technical snafu experienced by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during his attempt to launch his presidential campaign on X in May 2023.

Following the interview on Monday, Harris' campaign team, which recently joined Trump's Truth Social platform, reshared a post from May 2023 where Trump criticized DeSantis' launch event. Trump had labeled the launch a "DISASTER" and predicted that DeSantis' entire campaign would be similarly doomed.

Background:

Trump had agreed to the interview on X despite largely abandoning his account on the platform since Musk reinstated it in November 2022. After being banned from Twitter following the January 6 Capitol attack in 2021, Trump had shifted to Truth Social, where he now frequently posts. However, he returned to X to promote his 2024 campaign and the interview with Musk.

Technical Issues:

DeSantis' campaign launch on X also faced significant technical issues, including frequent audio dropouts, echoing, and major feedback problems. The stream cut out completely after 20 minutes before resuming briefly. Trump mocked DeSantis' event by sharing a video parody featuring DeSantis in a bizarre conversation with AI-generated figures like Adolf Hitler, the Devil, and liberal billionaire George Soros.

DeSantis ended his presidential bid in January 2024 after finishing a distant second to Trump in the Iowa caucus earlier that month.

Reactions and Statements:

Musk, who has endorsed Trump for the 2024 election, commented on the technical difficulties during the interview, stating, "There appears to be a massive DDOS attack on X. Working on shutting it down. Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later."

In response, Harris’ campaign team issued a statement criticizing Trump's campaign: "Donald Trump's extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is not a glitch but a feature of his campaign, evident to those who were unfortunate enough to tune in tonight amid the chaos on X. Trump's campaign serves only self-obsessed millionaires like himself and Elon Musk, who can't even manage a livestream in 2024."

Trump’s 2024 campaign highlighted the contrast with Harris, asserting, "While President Trump continues to engage directly with the public, Kamala is hiding, afraid of being exposed as weak, ineffective, and dangerously liberal."

Looking Ahead:

Both Harris and Trump are set to participate in an ABC News-hosted presidential debate on September 10.
