Mark Cuban Wants to Be 'Head of the SEC' Under Kamala Harris

Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur, "Shark Tank" investor, and Dallas Mavericks owner, made an intriguing statement on Fox News regarding his potential interest in serving in a Harris administration. When asked by host Neil Cavuto on the show "Your World" whether he would consider positions like Treasury or Commerce Secretary, Cuban responded with a clear preference: “Head of the SEC, head of the SEC, that’s the job I would take.” He also mentioned a possible interest in the Health and Human Services (HHS) role.

Cuban, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, appeared on the show to discuss his views on Trump's trade policies, particularly the tariffs imposed on American companies. One example that sparked Cuban's critique was Trump's threat to impose a 200% tariff on John Deere, an iconic American manufacturer, if the company moved production to Mexico—a move that John Deere had already planned.

In response to Trump's tariff threats, Cuban expressed his frustration on X (formerly Twitter), calling the lack of business understanding "insane." He argued that raising tariffs on an American company with operations in Mexico would ultimately benefit Chinese competitors, allowing them to undercut U.S. businesses in the global market. Cuban further pointed out that such tariffs could damage John Deere's legacy while also increasing costs for American consumers.

His public comments reflect his deep concern over how certain economic policies could harm U.S. companies and consumers, and his desire to influence regulatory decisions from a powerful position like the SEC.
