Business magnate Mark Cuban recently shared a throwback video of Donald Trump struggling with a simple multiplication problem, criticizing the former president for stubbornly sticking to his incorrect answer even after being corrected.
The clip, which originated from a 2006 episode of *The Howard Stern Show,* features Trump along with his children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, as guests. The nonprofit magazine *Mother Jones* posted the video on YouTube in June 2016, just a few months before Trump was elected as President of the United States.
In the video, Donald Trump Jr. initially responds incorrectly to a math question posed by Stern, who asked, "What’s 17 times six?" After several wrong answers, Trump Sr. confidently interjected with, "It’s 112," but Stern quickly pointed out the mistake. Despite this, Trump remained adamant about his answer, leading to a confusing back-and-forth until the correct answer, 102, was finally revealed.
Cuban, who has been vocal in his criticism of Trump, shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, "The Trump Files: Watch The Trumps Not Be Able To Multiply 17 By 6." His post quickly gained traction, amassing 1.2 million views. In a follow-up post, Cuban commented, "The crazy thing isn’t that he got it wrong. That’s human. The crazy thing is that he stuck with his wrong answer, even after being told by multiple people, who had checked the answer, that it was wrong."
Trump, who is the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, recently saw a boost in his campaign after a Trafalgar Group poll showed him leading Vice President Kamala Harris in five key swing states, with the two candidates tied in two others.
Cuban also conducted a poll on X, asking followers, "Whose persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?" The results showed 68.9 percent favoring Trump, compared to 31.1 percent for Harris. However, Cuban later questioned the poll’s validity, asking Elon Musk why there were discrepancies between the vote count and engagement metrics.
Meanwhile, Trump faced additional backlash over the weekend after criticizing Harris’s treatment of his former vice president, Mike Pence. Social media users were quick to point out Trump’s previous harsh comments about Pence, particularly during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, where some rioters chanted, "Hang Mike Pence."
Newsweek reached out to Trump’s spokespersons for comment, but they had not responded as of the time of reporting.
