How are Presidential Hopefuls Trump and Harris Spending Election Day?

As millions of voters participate in the closely contested 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump is set to cast his ballot, while Vice President Kamala Harris has already submitted her absentee vote.

The election features exceptionally narrow margins across seven crucial battleground states: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. Together, these states represent 93 Electoral College votes, with Pennsylvania holding the highest at 19. Their outcomes could determine the election winner in the race for the 270 Electoral College votes necessary for victory.

Forecasts vary, with some analysts predicting a Trump win, while others lean towards Harris as the likely victor. As of Monday morning, the 538 forecast suggests Trump will triumph in 53 out of 100 scenarios, with Harris winning 47, while Nate Silver's Silver Bulletin indicates a slight lead for Harris over Trump.

Here’s a look at the candidates’ plans for Election Day.

Final Campaign Activities:

On the last day of her campaign, Harris focuses on rallying support in Pennsylvania, making several stops in this critical battleground state. She will begin her day in Scranton, the hometown of President Joe Biden, followed by remarks in Allentown. Additionally, she plans to visit a Puerto Rican restaurant in Reading with Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Harris will conclude her Pennsylvania tour with rallies in Pittsburgh and at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where pop star Katy Perry is expected to perform.

Trump is also mobilizing efforts in swing states with a series of campaign stops. He kicks off his final day in Raleigh, North Carolina, at 10 a.m., then heads to Reading, Pennsylvania, for a rally before moving to Pittsburgh at 6 p.m. His day will wrap up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a rally scheduled for 10:30 p.m.

Where Will They Be on Election Day?

Harris will be in Washington, D.C. After voting absentee, she plans to host a watch party at Howard University, her alma mater. California, her home state, which has 54 Electoral College votes, is projected to vote blue, as it has in the past 36 years. Meanwhile, her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has already voted in person during early voting, and President Joe Biden cast his ballot last week in Delaware.

Trump will be in Florida on Election Day. Despite previously indicating he would vote early, he has decided to cast his ballot in Florida. With 30 electoral votes, Florida is historically a swing state, having voted for President Obama twice and Trump in 2016 and 2020. Trump’s campaign recently announced an election watch party at the Palm Beach Convention Center rather than at Mar-a-Lago.
