Former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney appeared on The View, emphasizing the crucial role women will play in shaping the results of Tuesday's election.
“Women are going to save the day in this election,” Cheney stated during Monday's episode. “The women are going to save this republic, so get out and vote.”
In September, Cheney spoke at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy, announcing her decision to break with her party's presidential nominee and support Vice President Kamala Harris instead.
Cheney explained on The View that she has been actively campaigning with Harris, admiring her dedication to representing all Americans. Cheney believes Harris embodies the integrity and commitment of a true public servant, with the capacity to lead and inspire, especially among young girls. “Every time people like Charlie Kirk or Donald Trump act shocked that a woman might make her own voting decisions, it only underscores how important this moment is,” Cheney remarked.
Continuing, Cheney argued, “The fundamental conservative principle is loyalty to the Constitution. In this race, Donald Trump is far from conservative. His proposed tariff policies will only raise taxes, fuel inflation, and add to the national debt. That’s not conservative.”
Cheney also addressed Trump’s influence, attributing his success solely to those who enable him.
On the topic of abortion, Cheney, who identifies as pro-life, stressed that women can hold personal religious beliefs while recognizing abortion as a basic healthcare need.
“We all need to understand that supporting life doesn’t mean endorsing draconian restrictions,” Cheney said. “I trust Vice President Harris to protect women’s healthcare rights. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has suggested putting Bobby Kennedy Jr. in charge of women’s health. That’s where his priorities lie.”
